Can I apply if I only have a NET-Lectureship certificate?
No, only those with a NET-Fellowship (JRF) are eligible. Lectureship alone is not sufficient.
What is the application fee for women candidates?
Women candidates, as well as SC, ST, and PwBD applicants, are completely exempted from paying the fee.
I am in my final semester of M.Sc. and don’t have my final marks yet. Can I apply?
Yes, you can apply, provided you have at least 55% in your previous semesters and complete all requirements by August 10, 2026.
Will I get any money to help with travel for the interview?
Yes, BARC reimburses to-and-fro Third AC railway fare for shortlisted candidates called for the interview.
Is hostel stay mandatory if I get selected?
Yes, where hostel accommodation is provided, staying in the hostel and paying mess charges is mandatory.
Can I use my Birth Certificate for age proof?
Yes, either your SSC/Matriculation Certificate or a valid Birth Certificate will be accepted as proof of date of birth.
What happens if I forget to upload my GATE scorecard?
Applications without the required qualifying exam scorecard and marksheets will be disqualified automatically.
Do I need to send a hard copy of my application to Mumbai?
No, applications are accepted online only. Do not send multiple applications or hard copies by post.
I have an M.Tech. in Biotechnology, am I eligible for the Life Sciences fellowship?
No, the notification specifically states that candidates with B.Tech./M.Tech. degrees in Life Sciences are not eligible.
How long does the fellowship last?
The total duration is five years (2 years as JRF and 3 years as SRF), subject to satisfactory performance reviews.
