About the Post
National Law University Meghalaya, Shillong, invites online applications for temporary, project-based positions under the ICSSR-funded Minor Research Project titled:
“Phonetic Database and Digital Preservation of the Sumi Tribal Language: A Sociolinguistics and Cultural Study.”
These positions will assist in phonetic documentation, field research, audio recording, transcription, community engagement, and database preparation, under the guidance of Project Director: Dr. S. Elika Assumi.
The appointments are purely temporary and initially for 89 days, extendable as per project needs.

Yes. For both posts, fluency in speaking and writing the Sumi language is mandatory.
Is this a permanent job at NLU Meghalaya?
No. These posts are purely temporary and linked only to the ICSSR project.
Is fieldwork mandatory for both posts?
Yes, especially for the Field Investigator role. Research Associate will also participate in field-based documentation.
Can I apply without NET or PhD?
For Research Associate, NET/MPhil/PhD is mandatory. For Field Investigator, it is not required.
