Age Limit

BranchAge Limit (as on 01 January 2027)
Flying Branch20 to 24 years (born between 02 January 2003 to 01 January 2007). Upper age limit for valid Commercial Pilot License holders: 26 years (born between 02 January 2001 to 01 January 2007).
Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical)20 to 26 years (born between 02 January 2001 to 01 January 2007).

Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course. Marriage is not permitted during training.


Educational Qualification

(i) Flying Branch

  • Minimum 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level.
  • Any one of the following:
    • Graduation (3 years) with 60% marks or equivalent.
    • BE/B.Tech (4 years) with 60% marks or equivalent.
    • Cleared Section A & B of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with 60% marks.

(ii) Ground Duty (Technical Branch)

(a) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) [AE (L)]

  • 50% marks each in Physics & Maths at 10+2 level and a 4-year degree in Engineering/Technology.
  • Acceptable specializations include: Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Robotics, Communication Engineering, etc.

(b) Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) [AE (M)]

  • 50% marks each in Physics & Maths at 10+2 level and a 4-year Engineering degree.
  • Acceptable specializations include: Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Automobile, Industrial, Production, Manufacturing, Power, Mechatronics, etc.

(iii) Ground Duty (Non-Technical Branches)

Selection Procedure of Indian Air Force AFCAT Recruitment

The AFCAT 2025 selection process consists of the following stages:
