About the Post
Assam State Eligibility Test (SLET) 2026 is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in higher educational institutions across the North-Eastern Region. Candidates qualifying SLET will be considered eligible as per UGC norms within the participating states.

There is no fixed number of vacancies.
SLET is an eligibility test, not a recruitment exam. Appointment depends on institutional vacancies and recruitment rules.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Master’s Degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized University.
- Minimum Marks:
- General / EWS: 55%
- OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD: 50%
- Candidates appearing in the final year of Master’s degree may apply provisionally.
Age Limit
- No upper age limit for appearing in SLET 2026.
