About the Post

Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam has released the official notification for the Centrally Sponsored National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Scheme for the academic session 2025–2026.
The NMMS Scholarship aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections studying in Classes IX to XII in Government and Provincialised schools.

Eligible students of Class VIII may apply online through the official portal.

Value of NMMS Scholarship

  • Selected students will receive ₹12,000 per annum (₹1000 per month).
  • The scholarship is provided for four years: Classes IX, X, XI, and XII.

Who Cannot Apply for NMMS Scholarship?

  • Students of private schools are not eligible (even if they appear for the exam).
  • Students studying in Kendriya Vidyalayas or Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
  • Students of State Government residential schools where facilities like boarding, lodging, and education are provided.

How to Apply for NMMS Assam Scholarship 2025?

  1. Visit the official NMMS Assam Scholarship Portal.
  2. Click on Online Application Form and select Register Now.
  3. Fill in personal and academic details and upload required documents.
  4. Pay the application fee based on your category.
  5. Submit the form and keep the acknowledgment for future use.

Selection Process of NMMS Scholarship

  1. A written examination (MCQ) will be held on 15 November 2025.
  2. The question paper will be available in Assamese, English, Hindi, Bengali, and Bodo.
  3. The OMR sheet will be provided in English only.
  4. Students with disabilities will receive additional time.
  5. There will be two papers:
