About the Post

The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Assam has invited online applications for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships for SC and OBC students of Assam for the academic year 2025–26.

Eligible students may apply through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for both Fresh and Renewal applications.

Eligibility Criteria

For All SC & OBC Scholarships

  • Caste Certificate: Must be issued by the District Commissioner’s office.
  • Income Ceiling: Family annual income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh. Income certificate must be issued by the Circle Officer.
  • Bonafide Certificate: Must be issued by the head of the institution.

For Pre-Matric SC Students (Component-II – Unclean Occupation)

  • No income ceiling for this category.
  • Must submit a certificate proving engagement in unclean occupation (issued by District Social Welfare Office or relevant authority).
  • Bonafide Certificate is also required.

  • Caste Certificate (SC/OBC)

  • Aadhaar Card (linked with mobile number)
  • Active bank account (preferably Aadhaar-seeded)
  • Unclean Occupation Certificate (if applicable)

Instructions for Applicants

  1. Download and register via the NSP OTR App (available on Google Play Store).
  2. Perform face authentication to generate your One-Time Registration (OTR) number.
  3. Ensure the Aadhaar and mobile number used is linked correctly.
  4. Bank account details must be accurate and active for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
  5. The same process applies for both fresh and renewal candidates.

How to Apply?

  1. Visit https://scholarships.gov.in
  2. Register through the NSP OTR App and complete face authentication.
  3. Login using OTR number and fill in the application form.
  4. Upload all required documents.
  5. Submit the application and print a copy for records.

What is the last date to apply for the scholarship?

30th September 2025.

Who can apply for these scholarships?

Only students belonging to SC or OBC communities of Assam.

What is the income limit for eligibility?

₹2.5 lakh per year for all categories except Component-II (Unclean Occupation), which has no income ceiling.

Is Aadhaar mandatory?

Yes. If the student is a minor, Aadhaar of the parent must be used.

Can I apply offline?

No. Applications are only accepted through the National Scholarship Portal.

What is OTR and how do I generate it?
